Minna Henriksson has been artist-in-resident in many Ex-Yugoslavian cities: Zagreb, Ljubljana, Pristina, Belgrade, which do not host a permanent artist-in-residency programme, or she was the first guest artist in the programme. In the recent years she has been mainly working in that region. The first time she visited South-East Europe was when participating in a collaborative project with Huseyin Bahri Alptekin in 2003. Since then many personal and professional connections have brought her time and again to that geography and she has been a frequent visitor to Istanbul.
She is currently living in Helsinki. In the recent years one of the themes in her work have been collective identities and more specifically different manifestations of nationalism, which she has explored in her works as well as co-edited a book ‘Contemporary Art and Nationalism – Critical Reader’ together with kosovar sociologist Sezgin Boynik.
