Clemens von Wedemeyer often employs filmic language within the context of fine art. He is making a sculpture on an escarpment, overlooking the terraces of the city and the flatlands stretching out below.
Mardin is a cinematic city; there is a lot to look at, and the whole old city itself looks from the hill at an enlightened landscape. Many stories circulate in the area and wait for a place for themselves. They are connected to this city and its landscape. (Clemens von Wedemeyer)
The work is a ‘useful sculpture’, one side of which will be used an outdoor cinema screen, for which the artist is creating a new film about Mardin. The other side is a giant mirror, reflecting the sun and moon.
